The short version
Porter Ranch Pros is an independent website for Porter Ranch homeowners. We publish local guides and a list of contractors that Porter Ranch residents have recommended.
We are not a brokerage, an agency, a contractor, or a referral service. We don't screen, license, insure, bond, employ, or supervise anyone listed on this site. We're not part of any transaction between you and a professional you find here.
If you hire someone, that's between you and them.
What this site is
We publish two kinds of content:
Guides. Articles about owning a home in Porter Ranch — fire season, insurance, the housing market, and similar topics. These are general information compiled from public sources. They are not legal, financial, tax, insurance, or real estate advice.
Recommendations. Porter Ranch residents tell us about professionals they've hired. We read each submission before publishing it. We publish what they tell us.
What we don't do
We do not verify that a person submitting a recommendation lives in Porter Ranch, hired the professional, or is unrelated to them. We read submissions and use our judgment, but we cannot confirm any of this.
We do not check licensing, insurance, bonding, certifications, permits, or qualifications for anyone listed on this site.
We do not inspect work, mediate disputes, guarantee outcomes, or stand behind anyone's performance.
We do not accept payment for the top spot on any trade page. If a placement is paid for, it is labeled as paid.
Before you hire anyone
Verifying a professional is your responsibility. At minimum:
- Confirm their license with the California Contractors State License Board at cslb.ca.gov
- Confirm they carry current liability insurance and workers' compensation
- Get a written contract and a written estimate
- Ask for and contact references directly
- Never pay in full up front
A recommendation on this site is one neighbor's opinion about one job. It is not a substitute for doing your own homework.
Accuracy
We try to keep this site accurate and current, and we make mistakes. Information may be outdated, incomplete, or wrong. Businesses close, change hands, change phone numbers, and change what they do. Laws and requirements change.
We make no warranty that anything on this site is accurate, complete, or current, and we're not liable for decisions made in reliance on it.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Porter Ranch Pros and its operator are not liable for any damages arising from your use of this site or from any interaction with a professional listed here. This includes direct, indirect, incidental, and consequential damages, whether or not we were advised of the possibility.
This site and everything on it is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
Content you submit
When you submit a recommendation, you confirm the experience you're describing is your own and truthful, and you give us permission to publish it — including your first name and last initial — and to edit it for length or clarity.
Don't submit anything false, defamatory, or that you don't have the right to share. We may decline or remove any submission for any reason.
Email and communications
When you give us your email — by submitting a recommendation, contacting us, or signing up — you agree that we may use it to stay in touch about the site. That means following up on your message, and sending occasional updates, new guides, and news about Porter Ranch Pros.
We don't sell or rent your email to anyone. Every update we send includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can ask us to stop at any time.
Links to other sites
We link to outside websites for convenience. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content or practices.
Changes
We may change these terms at any time. The current version is always the one on this page. Continuing to use the site means you accept it.
