Recommendation Guidelines
Last updated August 2026
The short version
Recommend professionals you've actually hired, describe what really happened, and keep it about the work. We read every recommendation before it goes on the site.
What makes a good recommendation
You hired them. Not a friend of a friend, not someone you've heard good things about — someone who did work for you.
Be specific about the job. "Serviced my AC and replaced the thermostat" helps your neighbors far more than "did AC work." The details are the whole point.
Be honest. If they were great, say so. If you're recommending them with reservations, that's useful too — put it in the notes.
What we won't publish
- Recommendations for a business you own, work for, or are related to
- Recommendations for someone you haven't personally hired
- Anything that names or identifies another customer, neighbor, or third party
- Complaints, warnings, or negative reviews — this site collects recommendations, not complaints
- Accusations of illegal or unethical conduct
- Anything that appears coordinated, incentivized, or written by the business
What appears publicly
If we publish your recommendation, your neighbors may see:
- Your first name and last initial
- What you said the professional did for you
- The month and year of the work, if you provided it
- Which qualities you selected
- Your note, if you wrote one
Never published: your last name, email address, phone number, or street address.
We read everything
Every recommendation is read before it goes on the site. We may edit for length, spelling, or clarity. We may decline to publish, and we may remove something later — with or without explanation.
Correcting or removing your recommendation
Changed your mind, or made a mistake? Email us and we'll fix or remove it.
What this site is not
We don't verify that recommenders live in Porter Ranch or that the work described happened. We read submissions and use our judgment, but we can't confirm any of it — and we don't check anyone's license, insurance, or qualifications.
Recommendations here are neighbors' opinions, not our endorsement. Always verify licensing and references before you hire.
